The Philippine Embassy in Madrid hosted a lecture-dialogue with the Filipino Community on the Rights of Female Victims of Gender Based Violence in Spain in support of the 18-day Campaign to End Violence Against women and Children on 06 December 2025 at Centro de Filipinas en Madrid.
The talk, which was conducted by Dr. Ros Costelo, PhD., centered on the rights of female immigrant victims of gender-based violence, established process and procedure and available assistance in Spain. It also tackled various concerns and problems encountered by Filipinos in Spain with regards to domestic abuse, immigration status, as well as rights of their children.

Spain has a specialized system for addressing gender-based violence, with dedicated courts and comprehensive support services.
The Embassy also distributed information flyers on The Rights of the Gender-Based Violence Victims in Spain to various areas frequented by Filipinos to disseminate the information among the community.
In his remarks, Chargé d’Affaires, a.i. Mark Francis C. Hamoy, encouraged the Filipino community to speak out, extend assistance, be vigilant and seek support from the Embassy and Spanish institutions because the Spanish government can readily address all complaints of gender-based violence.
At least one hundred (100) Filipino women and twenty (20) men attended the lecture dialogue.
