The Embassy Conducts Financial Literacy Seminar for Filipinos in Malaga, Spain

Financial Literacy Seminar was conducted for the Filipino community in San Pedro de Alcantara, Malaga.

The Philippine Embassy in Madrid brought its services to Filipinos in Malaga, Spain through a financial literacy seminar which was conducted in San Pedro de Alcantara, Malaga, Spain on 18 January 2019.

Attended by approximately fifty (50) members of the community, the financial literacy seminar was part of the Embassy´s Gender and Development (GAD) activity which was aimed at providing practical understanding and enhancing skills in financial management.  It provided the participants, mostly women, with additional tools to become more financially savvy and self-empowered. It also promoted planning, budgeting and encouraged the participants to be conscious of the future, as well as set proper mind-set to attain financial stability.

The seminar also included briefing on various government services and report and updates of the projects, programs of the Embassy.  The Embassy representatives were also joined by the Philippine Overseas Labor Office (POLO) and were assisted by the Federación de Asociaciones Filipinos en Andalucía (FedAfil). 

Malaga is approximately 800.4 km from Madrid and is home to about 5,000 Filipinos.
