04 June 2013 – The Philippine Embassy in Madrid reports that Ambassador Carlos C. Salinas opened the Manuel D. Baldemor painting exhibit in Centro Cultural Galileo in Madrid on 03 June 2013 as part of the Embassy´s commemorative activities for 11th Philippines-Spain Friendship Day and Mes Filipino.
The exhibit, entitled “Symphony of Colors”, will run from 03 to 17 June 2013. It features forty (40) of Baldemor´s more recent acrylic works that illustrate Philippine folk elements (i.e. veneration of the Sto. Niño, religious festivals, etc.), which can be traced back to the influences of Spanish culture, and his many recent travels within Spain.
In his speech, Ambassador Salinas noted that it was an honor for the Embassy to play host to Mr. Baldemor and that the exhibit was a fitting way to celebrate 11th Philippines-Spain Friendship Day and Mes Filipino. In his words, Mr. Baldemor “is exceptional. His paintings are timeless and his subjects are most certainly unforgettable.”
On his part, Mr. Baldemor expressed appreciation for the work done by the Embassy in the organization of his exhibit and that he is very much pleased to be back in Spain, a country which he loves and has many fond memories of.
The inauguration, which was attended by members of the Filipino community, friends of the Embassy, and guests of the Centro Cultural Galileo, was followed by a cocktail reception.
