Invitation to Participate in the 1st Philippine International Bioenergy Conference (PIBEC)

The 1st Philippine International BioEnergy Conference (PIBEC) will be held in Manila, Philippines on 12-13 January 2012 at the Fiesta Pavilion of the Manila Hotel.

The theme for the conference is “Green Investments: Providing Solutions towards Energy Sustainability”.  The conference aims to assemble the bioenergy industry players, from farmer groups, plant producers, investment groups, financing institutions, academe and others in order to attain the following objectives:

  • Gather data and information on lessons learned and best practices on biofuels and biomass production, utilization, sustainability and other economic issues;
  • Identify the opportunities and challenges for major feedstocks and sources of biofuels and biomass production and move towards the appropriate business discussion;
  • Secure valuable information on the critical aspects of the Philippine bioenergy industry such as but not limited to integrated technologies, land availability and utilization, and financing; and
  • Move towards investments in the bioenergy industry in the Philippines.

Conference participants will have the opportunity to interact directly with possible investors and technology providers for bioenergy that may bring the business to the global marketplace.

The conference is organized by the Department of Agriculture (DA) through the Philippine Agricultural Development and Commercial Corporation (PADCC), the Department of Agrarian Reform (DAR), the Department of Environment and Natural Resources (DENR), the Department of Energy (DOE) and the national Biofuels Board (NBB).
