Philippine Embassy in Madrid Conducts Consular Outreach Mission in Ibiza

29 May 2014– The Philippine Embassy in Madrid successfully conducted a consular outreach mission in Ibiza on 24 May 2014.

First Secretary and Consul General Emmanuel R. Fernandez headed the five-member consular team which included Mr. Edmundo V. Venturanza, Ms. Ma. Rhodora C. Cruz, Ms. Karen Trujillo-Caro and Ms. Gay S. Cayetano. The Consular team processed a total of 205 consular documents, of which 160 were passport applications. POLO and OWWA also provided their respective services.

The team also conducted registration for Overseas Voting and processed a total of 39 new registrants.

Consul General Fernandez, along with POLO OIC and OWWA Welfare Officer Ma. Elvira Ador, also met with the leaders of the Filipino Community in Ibiza to encourage them to participate in the First Filipino Community Leaders´ Summit which will be held in September 2014.

This was the second consular outreach mission held by Madrid PE in Ibiza following the closure of the Philippine Consulate General in Barcelona in July 2012. Balearic Islands cover Palma de Mallorca, Menorca, Ibiza and Formentera, and is home to about 1,551 Filipinos. Majority of them work as hotel and restaurant workers, and household staff.
