Philippine Embassy Lights Up Lanterns

Ambassador Philippine J. Lhuillier and Madame Edna D. Lhuillier led the Christmas lighting ceremony at the Philippine Embassy showcasing the Philippine lanterns

H.E. Ambassador Philippe J. Lhuillier and Madame Edna D. Lhuillier led the Christmas lighting ceremony at the Philippine Embassy on 29 November 2018 to officially mark the start of the Christmas season.

Eighteen beautiful and unique Christmas lanterns from the Philippines shone bright amidst the dark Madrid night as Ambassador and Madame Lhuillier lit the candle which symbolizes hope and prosperity, which simultaneously kindled all the lanterns and other Christmas ornaments from the Philippines.

In his short message, the Ambassador thanked the Embassy personnel for their hard work and dedication while challenging everyone to work towards an even more successful 2019.

The ceremony, which is on its second year, was conceptualized to bring the unique Filipino Christmas spirit to Madrid and also to showcase Filipino craftsmanship through the renowned Philippine lanterns, which the Embassy also hopes to bring to Spain.

The lanterns and other Philippine Christmas ornaments were provided by Ambassador and Madame Lhuillier.
